Russia-Ukraine: CIA anticipated Hostomel airport blitz

The intelligence informed Kiev about the lightning military operation of Russian paratroopers

The attack on the airport "Antonov" of Hostomel, located north-west of the Ukrainian capital, had been anticipated by the US intelligence to the Kiev government. Thus, on the night of February 24, 2022, when the airborne armed forces arrived at the airport, they found the Kiev army waiting for them. At that point, a bloody battle began, with the Russians imposing themselves, but suffering heavy losses.

This is what emerges from an indiscretion published by the newspaper "Il Corriere della Sera", according to which the director of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), David Cohen, in mid-January made a secret visit to Kiev to speak with President Volodymyr Zelensky. Among the information provided there would have been the one concerning the Hostomel airport, a sensitive target through which Moscow would have created a tactical hub to make reinforcements flow for the following definitive attack towards the capital Kiev.

And if it is true that on that occasion the Russian Army destroyed several Antonov planes, as well as the largest aircraft in the world (Antonov An-225 Mriya), now we learn that the Ukrainians, according to a reconstruction, would have managed to hit three Russian Ilyushin 76 military transport aircraft.
