Components for an astronomical research in China built in Veneto

Officina Stellare will supply instrumentation for 2 million Euros to the Chinese Academy of Science

Officina Stellare, an Italian company based in Vicenza (Veneto Region) active in the design and production of excellent opto-mechanical instrumentation in the aerospace, research and defense sectors, has been awarded a contract for the supply of approximately 50 ground-based platforms for an astronomical research project launched by Chinese Academy of Science (CAS).

The supply contract is part of a scientific program with a total value of around EUR 20 million. The production -AVIONEWS reports- of the approximately 50 direct-drive mounts and tracking subsystems, designed and built by Officina Stellare, has a total value of over EUR 2 m, with a three-year delivery plan that will start already in 2020.

For Italian society it is one of the largest contracts, by far the most relevant in the field of astronomical research. The result was also obtained thanks to the collaboration with the Galaxy Scientific Group of Hong Kong, a partner of the company in the Chinese and South-East Asian market with which the supply contract was signed. The company thus consolidated its multi-year presence in the strategic Chinese market and opened the doors to further important collaborations and future results.
