Canada Authority suspends Coa to Island Express Air

For security problems after the accident to its B-100 King Air

Transport Canada suspended yesterday the Air Operator Certificate to the Island Express Air company due to security problems. The measure implemented yesterday on February 28 requires to airline to cease its commercial air services. The department undertook this action in the interest of public security following the incident involving one of its aircraft last February 23 in Abbotsford, and following its violations of the Canadian Aviation Regulations. The accident involved a Beechcraft B-100 King Air, which has had a runway incursion in take-off phase.

Transport Canada declared it: "In light of this threat to public safety, Island Express Air will not be allowed to resume its commercial air service until it demonstrates that it can maintain its operations consistent with air safety regulations".

Island Express Air is a Canadian carrier based in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Its first flight dates back to 2009. It operates a scheduled service between the Lower Mainland and the island of Vancouver, as well as charter flights and cargo services.
