The US Senate has voted to block development and production of the second F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter engine: the General Electric/Rolls Royce F136. The move rejected an amendment that included a US$ 600 million expense to develop and buy first four of these engines, alternative to Pratt & Whitney's F135.
