Boeing announced recently that the first platform for the new ABL (Airborne Laser) system based on a 747/400F performed its maiden flight, taking off from Edwards Air Force Base (California). The flight was aimed to verify during specific tests the running of the fire control of the airplane's laser cannon, a system designed by Lockheed Martin and destined to the laser produced by Northrop Grumman....
