ICAO Assembly. ENAC: promotional initiative of Italy
The event in Montreal received great participation and appreciation
An Italian promotional event was held yesterday evening, on September 25, in Montreal, during the events on the sidelines of the 40th ICAO Assembly (International Civil Aviation Organization) -from September 24 to October 4, 2019- which was attended by over 1000 delegates from the countries that are following the work.
The initiative was organized by ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Organization) and by the permanent representation of Italy at the ICAO, with the support by numerous companies, both in the sector and otherwise, present with their own exhibition spaces to this initiative characterized by a prestigious international visibility. Among the companies that supported the evening it is to remember Leonardo, ENAV (Italian Flight Assistance Company), Aeroporti di Roma, Sea (Milan airports management company), Bergamo Airport (Sacbo), Save (Venice), Gesac (Naples), Sac (Catania), Bologna Airport, Toscana Aeroporti and Ferrero.
Hosts of the event, which opened with the greetings by the Institutions and Authorities present and which also hosted a concert of Italian musicians and sopranos, were the president of ENAC, Nicola Zaccheo, its general manager Alessio Quaranta together with Silvia Costantini, consul general and permanent representative in Montreal.
The evening was also attended by ICAO President Benard Aliu and its General Secretary Fang Liu.
The leaders of ENAC highlighted, in particular, how the meeting represented an important moment of consolidation of institutional and personal relations between the heads of international civil aviation, in an atmosphere of purely Italian conviviality and culture.
The ICAO general assembly, a UN body made up of 193 member countries, gathers once every three years to establish the organization's policy and elect the 36 members of the council, the executive body of the ICAO, divided into three segments which, by category of relevance, represent the countries with a significant industrial aeronautical history and an incisive air transport policy, to which to assign the government mission for the following three-year period.
Italy has been a member of the council since 1951 and since 1962 has always been reconfirmed in the first category, among the leading Nations of world civil aviation.
The campaign to support the Italian candidacy, which also includes the promotional event that took place yesterday, is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, with the contribution by the ENAC as Authority for technical regulation, certification, supervision and control in Italy of the air transport system.
It should also be remembered that the 36 States that will be part of the council that will be elected next Saturday on September 28, will have to designate, next November, the ICAO president for the three-year period 2020-2022. For the position as ICAO President, the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference), a pan-European organization made up of 44 member States, selected the Italian engineer Salvatore Sciacchitano as the only European candidate.
